Meeting human needs in Jesus' name
Through Baptists on Mission’s Partnership with Pennsylvania, teams serve alongside church planters and pastors in both rural and urban areas. In addition to ministry expertise and resources, volunteer teams offer Christian encouragement and prayer – a valuable resource in a region where there is not an evangelical church on every corner. A current list of Pennsylvania-South Jersey Partnership projects for 2026 is available for your prayerful consideration! See instructions below, and, check back often as projects are added as we receive them!

2. Once you have reviewed the list, pray about which project(s) you might want to respond to.
3. Contact Mark Abernathy (mabernathy@ncbaptist.org ; 919-459-5607) to express interest and get contact information.
4. You will be put in direct contact with the requestor in Pennsylvania-South Jersey to ask any and all questions.
5. If, after conversation, you and the requestor feel it is a good match, set a date with them for your team’s service, and let Mark Abernathy know.
6. You will be sent instructions for securing the project (from the list below) on behalf of your team by registering as team leader.
Church Basement Renovation (PA26-010). Teams are needed to help inner-city ethnic Baptist church in Philadelphia finish and upgrade basement into youth ministry space. Area is approximately 50’ x 60’. Will involve either repairing plaster ceiling or replacing it with sheetrock, and painting the walls. Host church has some funds for materials, but any contribution the team can make would be appreciated. A small team can stay in the church, which has bathroom, shower, and a kitchen that the team can use.
Backyard Bible Club/Block Party (PA26-031). A talented team is needed to help church reach out into their community. Would like for team to do a backyard Bible club or park party with community children. Would need those to lead in all aspects – Bible story, music, crafts, recreation, snacks, etc. Team would also assist church in doing a block party for children and parents at the end of the week. Requestor will work with team leader in what events to include for the block party. If team is musically talented, that would be a bonus. Team will need to bring BYBC supplies and help with block party supplies. Team can stay at the church if they wish or in nearby hotels.
