Alaska offers an opportunity to serve Christ in a beautiful and unique area of our nation. Mission teams serve each year in a variety of ways, including VBS, sports camps, backyard Bible clubs, block parties, new construction, renovation, and more.

Overview

Known as the Last Frontier, our 49th state is alive with adventure – rough, rugged, and beautiful. Alaska is populated by hardy, independent folk. The opportunity for sharing Christ and furthering His Kingdom here is wide open. The majority of Alaskan Baptist congregations are small in number. Many are located in isolated areas. Things we take for granted in our churches are simply not available to many of theirs. Our participation in missions in Alaska provides needed resources, leadership, and possibly most importantly, – encouragement. Be in prayer about this exciting Partnership and your participation in it.

Highlighted Needs

Backyard Bible Clubs/Park Ministry  in Wasilla, AK (AK26-001)
A team is needed to conduct Backyard Bible Clubs at two local parks, each day, four days during the week. Church has a puppet stage, sound system, and snow cone machine – any of which team can utilize if desired.  The team will need to provide expenses and materials for the clubs/VBS such as crafts, snacks, and any free giveaways. Church has some sports equipment and support materials that team might use.

Trail Clearing at Camp in Wasilla, Alaska (AK26-013)
Teams are needed to assist in trail clearing and construction at state Baptist camp. The camp would like to extend a trail along the lake edge and then make a loop to encompass a large portion of the camp property to create a skiing, fat-bike, and running course. Would require the use of chainsaws and other land-clearing tools. Team may need to rent some heavy equipment, which can be done locally. Camp director can talk with team leader about this

Contact Mark Abernathy at 919-459-5607 or mabernathy@ncbaptist.org if you can help or if you want more information concerning either of these projects. Thank you!
