The Privilege of Prayer

Prayer Ministry 2 min read

During the August NC Serve campaign, one of the many ways our church loved the community was to decorate & fill gift bags for teachers in the local elementary school. After completing the gift bags, we gathered together on school grounds to do a prayer walk. We divided into two teams and each team walked around the school several times. Since it was on a Saturday, we were able to pray aloud, each member taking a turn to pray about a specific topic until someone else felt led to change the direction of our prayer. When the prayer walk was over, both teams came together before leaving to share what this prayer time had meant to us. As individuals shared their experiences, it became amazingly apparent how the Holy Spirit was in control of our prayers! It was humbling and thrilling to be a part of the Holy Spirit’s work. He had united our hearts in prayer even though the teams were in different locations around the school praying!

What a privilege we as Christ followers have been given in prayer!

“Therefore, He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He (Jesus) always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25

We have been gifted with the opportunity to make intercessions for others as Jesus is always doing for us!

When believers are faithfully practicing the discipline of prayer, it strengthens our ability to pray in the spirit at all times. Would you consider becoming a prayer support team member? Would you be willing to accept the challenge of interceding for our brothers & sisters in Christ who are facing spiritual battles daily?

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against… spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

Remember, “The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much!” James 5: 16b

Are you ready to obey His call? “With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:18
