Reminded of God’s Care in New England

Our involvement with Baptists on Mission’s New England Partnership featured two key components: first, a platform to engage a community with the hope of the Gospel; and secondly, a healthy local church to work alongside. Our team of 25 students and leaders was blessed to partner with First Baptist Marlborough as we served through prayer walking, evangelism, and vacation Bible school.

FBC’s passion for reaching its community created the perfect environment for our high school students to practice meaningful, gospel-centered conversations. Throughout the week, our team had the opportunity to share the gospel with two homeless individuals who were wrestling with the brokenness and suffering around them. It was a joy to see our students listen to their stories, offer compassion, and point them to the source of everlasting hope. We also met with a former Marine seeking to overcome addiction. Our students encouraged him with Scripture, prayed for his deliverance, and shared about the transforming power of the gospel. We also ministered to a group of Portuguese-speaking children at FBC’s VBS. Using Google Translate, our students were able to talk with, pray with, and share Christ with these kids. For many, it was their first experience serving across a language barrier. Due, in part, to the training they received in Marlborough, several of these students have already signed up to participate in their first international mission trip next summer!

There were many more stories like these throughout the week. In every case, we were able to point individuals and families toward a healthy, gospel-centered church. It was a joy to come alongside the faithful work of Pastor Loveday and his team, to be a gust of momentum in their ongoing ministry, and to direct each person we met back to a healthy church that will continue to be salt and light in the Marlborough community for years to come.

We’re deeply grateful for ministry partners who provide opportunities to live out the spirit of Matthew 28:19–20:

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

This is one example of how mission teams are making a difference throughout New England. Teams serve through children’s ministry, evangelistic outreach, construction ministry, and more. Visit Baptists on Mission’s New England Partnership webpage and pray about how you and your church can make a Kingdom difference in this most-needed area of our nation!
