Reach and Train the Next Generation

Student Mobilization 2 min read

This past summer I had the privilege of serving as the Deep Impact camp speaker in Hendersonville North Carolina. It was a great honor to serve side by side with the amazing DI team, and over 100 committed students and adults who lived out the deep impact mission. God used these adults and students in very powerful ways. They worked at habitat for humanity sites, took time to visit with residents of a nursing home, helped clean up debris from hurricane Helene, and held an incredible block party for children at the local boys and girls club.

But God did not only work through them he worked in them. Throughout the week we walked through the life of Peter and saw how God gifted him and used him to do mighty things. Each day we learned that we are gifted by God, to be used for God, so the world sees the glory of God. At the end of each worship service the alter was filled with students and adults praying for forgiveness and praying to be used by God.

What stood out to me the most was the number of students who stood up and boldly shared testimonies about what God was calling them to do and how God had saved them. One story that stands out the most is a young man who had brought his grandfather’s Bible. After the worship service he stood up and shared that in the margins of His grandfathers Bible was the words “do it now.” This young man told the room that he was surrendering his life to doing what God was calling him to do, which was to preach and teach the Bible. He was not going to wait any longer. There were so many other stories from that week that would take up pages.

God is using Deep Impact and their partnership with churches to reach and train the next generation.
