In 1 Corinthians 10:31, it states, “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” For many years, Robert and Kathryn have been glorifying God through their actions.
Robert is a long-time volunteer and leader with Baptists on Mission (BOM) missions. He has led more than 20 BOM mission trips to Massachusetts, Wyoming, and Guatemala (three to four times), Ukraine, to Red Springs (five or more times), to Charity (two times), to Lumberton, Shelby (three to four times), West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and other locations.
The Simons have served on our BOM Board and advisory team for many years. Robert was elected and served as BOM President from 2017 to 2020. While he was our
President, we initiated and expanded ministries, including the purchase of new Disaster units and a mobile dental unit. We also had major Disaster responses and rebuilds following Hurricane Matthew and Hurricane Florence. While he was President, we also purchased and renovated our rebuild centers in Lumberton, Charity, and New Bern.
Robert has achieved many notable accomplishments. I have a quote on my desk by Dallas Willard that says,
“What matters is not the accomplishments that you achieve; what matters is the person you become.”
Some of the one to two-word descriptions about Robert & Kathryn describe him in one or two words- Kind, thoughtful, wise, Servant heart, Great integrity, joyful/ great smile, humble, considerate, calming, great listener, big heart, compassionate and willing to serve, always friendly and smiling, contagious laugh, humble, positive, affirming of people, servant, with him everyone is important and treated well.
Baptists on Mission is pleased to honor Robert and Kathryn Simons as our Heritage Award recipients for 2025.
