Helping families recover, rebuild and return home after one of North Carolina’s most devastating disasters.

Volunteer Now

Progress

Hurricane Florence affected approximately 100,000 homes across North Carolina, creating a need for both immediate disaster relief and long-term rebuilding efforts. Baptists on Mission responded by providing meals, housing volunteers and helping families repair and rebuild their homes.

Because of the size and impact of this disaster, recovery has required a long-term commitment. Volunteers continue to play a vital role in helping homeowners return home.

Recovery Work

Hurricane Florence created one of the largest disaster recovery needs our state has ever faced. At one time, Baptists on Mission had 14 different recovery sites operating across affected areas.

So far, volunteers have completed more than 5,800 recovery jobs, including home repairs and rebuilds for families impacted by the storm.

You do not need to be trained to serve. Volunteers of all skill levels are needed, and we are grateful for every person who has come to help.

Resources for Homeowners

Recovering after a hurricane or flood can feel overwhelming, especially when trying to determine what steps to take first. These resources are intended to help homeowners begin the recovery process safely and confidently, with guidance for cleaning flooded buildings, understanding relief information, learning about mud-out work and accessing FEMA assistance.
