Agricultural Training

Agriculture Ministry 3 min read

Genesis 2:8: “The Lord God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed.”

God Himself provided the garden, and as an act of worship and obedience, He has called us to serve Him and to preserve what he has given us. Part of this service is to fulfill the purpose of the Agricultural Ministry of helping “Christians share the love of Jesus by becoming involved in missions that address poverty and hunger wherever they exist”.

One of these missional needs is in Shelby, NC. In April 2025, the Ag Missions team partnered with Robbie Alexander at the Shelby Mission Camp to host a garden day. With the intention of having a formal training day, the small attendance prompted us to get out in the garden and have a practical, hands-on field day with those who came. It was very educational for us all and helpful for the camp, which uses the garden to address community needs and as a tool to share the gospel.

The Shelby Mission Camp is always seeking volunteers for its agriculture ministry, and it also plans to host additional training sessions for those interested. Our next full-day training is scheduled for September 13, 2025. Please reach out to Robbie at the Shelby Mission Camp if you would like to join us for the training, or find other dates on which you can volunteer with agricultural missions at the camp.

In the Agriculture Missions ministry, we hope to fulfill this call to worship and obey Him in all of our agricultural activities. Currently, members of our team are planning opportunities to serve in Togo, Africa and Santiago, Cuba. We also have potential opportunities to serve at the Veterans Farm of NC in Cameron, NC.

Do you have an interest in the above activities or ideas for other agricultural outreach opportunities? Perhaps you’re interested in being involved with the Agricultural Missions team? Does your church have an interest in starting a local Agricultural ministry? Or, do you have questions related to agricultural issues? Whatever your need is, please reach out and we will serve you in the best way we can.

We also encourage you to visit the Agriculture Missions page of NC Baptists on Mission for upcoming opportunities, as well as helpful web links to agricultural resources.
