The Armenian Baptist Union consisted of just two congregations with one building in 1991. When Baptists on Mission began working in Armenia in 2001 that number had grown to about 30 congregations. There are now more than 100 congregations with new church planters sent out each year.

Armenia

Background

Armenia has a rich Christian heritage as the first Christian nation, but genocide, World War I, and then 70 years of Soviet occupation virtually wiped out the church. The Armenian Baptist Union sends out several new church planters every year into strategic areas.

Armenia

Our Teams

Baptists on Mission teams will be work with the Baptist Union of Armenia and national pastors to reach communities for Christ. This will be accomplished through Vacation Bible Schools, men’s and women’s conferences, leadership training, construction and/or remodeling of buildings for churches, sports, music/drama, and health or eye glass clinics.

Length of Trip

The basic trip should include at least six (6) days in Armenia plus three (3) days travel time to and from Armenia.  The length of your trip will determine trip cost (see below).

Trip Cost

Total cost will be dependent on:

  1. Number of days you are in Armenia
  2. The current cost of airfare.
  3. Cost per person: airfare + in-country costs ($40 per day) + insurance + ministry cost

Some personal spending money will be needed for a few meals and souvenirs.

Team Ministry Costs

Ministry costs will vary depending on whether the team does construction, VBS, sports camps, or conferences.  A good rule of thumb is for each team to plan $200-$300 per team member for ministry costs.
