Disaster Response Training

Disaster Response Training Opportunities

DR Training allows you to begin to invest in the lives of those affected by disasters. Training allows you to be “on notice” through an email blast as we get a better picture of what the disaster entails. Most Disaster Response Ministries are open to anyone. There are a few ministries where some experience is necessary, such as medical, security, safety, etc. There are no DR training pre-requisites except for Assessment and Crew Chief, which requires you to train in Recovery; and Forklift, which requires you to train in Logistics, Recovery or Feeding. We also offer specialized training throughout the year for Chainsaw teams and Heavy Equipment (Skidsteer/Manlift). Please contact the Baptists on Mission office for assistance 800.395.5102 x 5606 or pcozadd@ncbaptist.org.

Training is valid for three years. If you have served on a disaster response deployment in most areas, you may renew your certification online, through a video call, within the year your badge expires. Online renewal requires a current background check. After completion, a new badge will be mailed to you. The cost for online renewal using the video call option is $20.

If you prefer, you may attend one of the regional trainings listed below and complete the in-person class again. Click the detail/register button to select your location.

Disaster Response Training

When a disaster strikes and we move into a community to serve, we partner will local Baptist churches to house our volunteers and act as a Disaster Response Operations Center (DROC). We sometimes partner with other organizations, such as The Salvation Army and Red Cross, when providing mass feeding. We partner with the State Emergency Operations Center and are proud to sit in the state EOC when major disasters come to North Carolina.
